Term Detective Privacy Policy
Effective October 15, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Term Detective LLC (“Term Detective,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and retains personal information in connection with termdetective.com and related services (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy forms part of our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in the Terms of Service.
2. Summary of Our Practices
Because we review other companies’ terms as our business, we present our own practices below in the same format we use for each vendor we cover. This summary is provided for convenience. If the summary conflicts with the remainder of this Privacy Policy, the remainder controls, and we ask that you notify us of the discrepancy.

3. Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to provide the Service and to process payment for it.
(a) Account Information. Your email address, subscription plan, monitored vendors, alert settings, and saved charts. For Team accounts, we also collect the email addresses of users you add.
(b) Payment Information. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We receive your plan, payment status, and a Stripe customer identifier. We do not receive or store your full payment card number.
(c) Waitlist and Mailing List Information. Your email address, the method and date of your sign-up, and whether you consented to receive marketing email.
(d) Correspondence. The contents of any email you send to us.
(e) Website Analytics. Cookieless analytics that record pages viewed, referring sources, browser type, and country. These analytics do not use cookies, do not create a profile of you, and do not track you across other websites.
(f) Essential Cookie. A single cookie that maintains your signed-in session and is used for no other purpose.
We do not use advertising trackers or social media pixels, and we do not purchase personal information from third parties.
4. How We Use Information
We use personal information solely to provide the Service and for purposes consistent with your reasonable expectations, specifically to:
(a) display vendor profiles and comparisons, and deliver the alerts and summaries you select;
(b) process payments and administer your subscription;
(c) respond to your inquiries;
(d) send marketing email, but only if you have opted in; every marketing email includes a one-click unsubscribe link;
(e) inform product decisions using aggregate patterns, such as which vendors are most frequently monitored; and
(f) maintain the security of the Service and prevent abuse.
We do not sell personal information, share it for advertising purposes, or use it to train AI models, whether our own or those of any third party.
5. How We Share Information
We engage the following service providers (“subprocessors”) to operate the Service. Each receives only the information necessary to perform its function.
| Provider | Function | Information Received |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosting, database, storage, website analytics, and sign-in protection | All data stored in the Service, and website traffic |
| Stripe | Payment processing | Your email address, plan, and the payment details you provide to Stripe |
| Resend | Delivery of alerts, summaries, and account email, and the waitlist mailing list | Your email address, waitlist sign-up details, and the emails we send to you |
| Anthropic | AI processing of vendors’ public documents | Vendor documents; not your email address or account details |
| Porkbun | Forwarding of email sent to our addresses | Emails you send to us |
| Microsoft Outlook | Receipt of our email | Emails you send to us |
We will notify account holders by email at least 14 days before engaging a new subprocessor.
Except as described above, we disclose personal information only when required by law, and we will notify you before doing so unless we are legally prohibited from providing notice. If Term Detective is sold or transferred, personal information will transfer with the business, and the acquirer must either honor the commitments in this Privacy Policy or provide you with notice and an opportunity to close your account before any change takes effect.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as you are a customer and for a limited period thereafter, as follows:
| Category | Retention Period |
|---|---|

| Marketing consent records | For as long as we send you marketing email, plus the period needed to demonstrate your consent |
| Waitlist sign-ups | Until you unsubscribe |
| Correspondence | Up to 2 years, then deleted |
| Website analytics | Aggregate counts only, retained for as long as they remain useful |
7. Your Rights
Regardless of where you reside, you may request access to, correction of, a copy of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may unsubscribe from marketing email at any time. To submit a request, email privacy@termdetective.com. We will verify that the request originates from the email address associated with your account and will respond within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
Because we do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising, no opt-out of those activities is necessary.

Term Detective LLC is the controller of your personal information. We rely on the following legal bases:
(a) Account administration and billing: performance of our contract with you;
